100 Days

My primary reason for creating this blog was to capture our first "official" year of homeschooling. It would be a way to have an electronic dairy of our work and share that with others. It has been an amazing journey learning how to blog and meeting fellow bloggers. It has fulfilled the primary function as a record keeping tool. As I was scrolling through my entries over the last year I was shocked how much work we have done in our first year. This blog helps me appreciate how far we have come in our homeschooling journey.

Over the last 100 days I have not been updating as frequently as I use to because real life demands have left me with very little if any free time. Those who know me personally can testify to the life changing challenges God has presented to our family. I have been documenting those changes offline and will share them later as life slows down. I praised God for his mercy and blessings through it all.

The core lessons from the last 100 days are that:

1. God is faithful.
   
2. Change is constant.
   

I have gained so much from this experience and will be forever changed by it. My prayers at the beginning of the year were to become more a woman of faith, strengthen my marriage, help me appreciate what I have and become a better parent. Granny always said "God will answer all prayers, but not the way YOU want them answered." All of those have been strengthened, flex and stretched to the point of almost breaking. But we are still here and doing great.

At this 100 day mark I just want celebrate being here!

Lapbook In Progress- Do Unto Otters (A book About Manners)

While searching for a a book on manners we found this little treasure. TS loves, loves this book. He started reading it on the way home from the library and has read it everyday for a week. It makes him laugh and think.

I am working on turning this into a FIAR lapbook type project.

Earth Day Horray

Fine Motor Work Day 20 - Lego Racer and Stomach Virus

TS awoke last week with a pretty serious tummy virus which left him completely out of it for about 24 hours. Thanks to the kindness of friends we got supplies delivered to the front door. Love Homeschool Moms!

It was a long day filled with comforting, cleaning, comforting and more cleaning.

Exactly 24 hours later I became the next victim. You can't help but hold and kiss your child when they are sick but it will come back on you. TS was feeling better by then and was just weak but ready to get back to doing something. Thank goodness I prepared for Sick/Allergy Days and bought Legos when they were on sale.

TS assembled Lego Racer for six hours! He followed the directions, combined them, invented his own and built a city. I was so tired and weak and guilt ridden (I am praying to get over that.) but proud to see him work this much with his hands.

March comes in like a lion, but goes out like a hail storm....

The sun was shining there wasn't a cloud in the sky and it started to drizzle.

TS: Hey Mom it is starting to rain.

ME: Let's hurry up TS, let's try to make it to the library.

TS: Mom it sounds like tennis balls hitting the roof. (Runs and turn on the weather radio. It's Texas tornado are known to happen that quick. Hail alert no tornado.)

ME: Get Out! Look at this TS.

We open the front door to this scene. This is 5 minutes into the storm.

10 minutes

18 minutes later down the street

TS: Hey Mom can you go get some.

ME: Son that is some big hail. I don't want to get hit on the head.

TS: Mom if you get hit on the head and get a concussion I will drag you back in and call 911. (Grinning Wide)

ME: Ugh son I think not. (Sun still shining neighbor kids out picking up hail).

TS: Mom we can call it science study of weather. Come on you are the best homeschool mom ever. You can even use and umbrella. Pleasssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssse!

Out I go into the hail with the six year yelling to the kids across the street about "Cool Hail". Then we hear car alarms and car windows crashing because we now have golf size and bigger hail. Back inside I go.

TS: Oh Mom you just got the little pieces. ;-)
